Paul's Autograph Mania Blog: Mayors

I've always been fascinated by urban planning and politics as a side subject, and spent countless hours as a kid playing SimCity. Heck, I even play the new SimCity game despite its many shortcomings. Over the past year, I have experimented with a new TTM project that combines my interest in geography with my autograph hobby. Using the same custom index card design I used for the 2012-13 hockey season, I sent out a small handful of letters to mayors and got many of them back signed. For now I've narrowed my scope to cities of populations of 100,000+ and not utilizing a council-manager format (in that setup, the city council runs the city and mayors are usually an honorary term given to one of the council members on a yearly or biannual basis). As this collection grows, I'll probably relax those constraints a bit. While authenticity on some of these can be difficult to pinpoint due to lack of online samples against which to compare, it's neat that most of these have come back in a timely manner. I've even gotten a couple in person!
